That’s me (in front) and I love to laugh. I like to make others laugh too, especially my sister (whose behind me) !
Having lots of experience as a former dishwasher, grocery bagger, donut finisher, waitress, insurance claims examiner, lunch buggy operator, physical therapist, amusement ride operator, chief physical therapist, cocktail waitress, bartender, rehab director, home care physical therapist, innkeeper, cook, maid and workshop coordinator, I realized that I really enjoy making “art”! Being late to the game, I had to speed up my learning curve to create artwork that provides me with a degree of satisfaction. Since closing the Art is Inn, I continue to learn and improve my skill and technique in creating art.
Since I don’t have a fine arts degree, I suffer from imposter syndrome regarding calling myself an artist. It would be untrue to say I am “a self taught artist” because plenty of other artists have taught me a variety of techniques and supplied directions on things to do to make a good painting. I’ve also read some books, watched instructional DVD’s, YouTube videos, live demonstrations and zoom conferences. All these things contributed to the type of work I do and consider to be art and as a result secretly believe myself to be an artist.
Some of the very admirable artists who have taught me some interesting things and provided valuable insight about art and life include Lucienne Rappaport, David Lee, Brian Bomeisler, Jacqueline Meyerson, Cecíle Houel, David Garrison, Jacob Aguiar, Alain Picard, Coung Nuygen, Glenn E. Blue, Chris Fornataro and Stan Prokopenko and many, many others.
Artists in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania are a terrific resource to each other. All have been uniformly supportive , encouraging and cooperative. Because of their generous nature I have enjoyed being active in the local arts community. My introduction to this community began as a guest to a Bethlehem Palette club meeting. Since then I belong to the Parkland Art League since 2015 and I currently hold the title of President of this organization since 2017. I am also a long time member of the Bethlehem Palette club, the Lehigh Art Alliance and am a signature member of the Pastel Society of New Jersey.
The Art is Inn
The bed & breakfast - art workshop venue that began in 2014 with renovations, permits, licensing and dreams was closed in February of 2022. It was a victim of Covid 19 and combined with the limitations in the size of the space for workshops, yoga and guests reverted back to a rental property. My heartfelt thanks to all the artists, instructors, guests and friends who made this a wonderful experience for us.
A BIG benefit for me is I still have my studio space at this location
